Globe are celebrating obtaining Planning Permission for a new convenience store in the heart of the village of Tibshelf in Derbyshire. Working on behalf of Doddington Commercial Property and in partnership with Polkey Collins Associates, Globe led detailed discussions with Bolsover District Council which established an agreed set of design parameters and principles thatinformed the subsequent (and successful) detailed application. The scheme will replace a semi-derelict building and secure its replacement with a purpose built, modern building which will improve the local townscape and regenerate this eyesore site.
The new store responds to a shift in consumer habits. Globe’s Integrated Planning Statement established that shopping patterns have changed significantly in the 21s Century, with the general population increasingly ‘topping-up’ their food supplies at small convenience stores to either supplement or replace the more traditional weekly shop or delivery services. It was successfully demonstrated that the proposed store responded to a ‘gap in the market’, providing greater consumer choice within the identified local catchment.
Bolsover District Council granted full planning permission on 19th May 2014. The scheme is expected to deliver in the region of 20 new jobs and it is hoped that the new store will welcome its first customers in early 2015.
