Fundraising continues apace with three-quarters of the £60,000 project costs now secured following the constant fundraising efforts of individuals and companies alike.
The design of the Memorial has been fine tuned by the artist using scaled models to include figures, working on the tank, wearing authentic clothing from the day. These figures include Messrs Tritton, Wilson and Rigby examining plans adjacent to the part completed machine.
It is important to remember that this memorial commemorates the City’s engineering heritage. The tank was a feat of engineering which, amongst other major engineering achievements, fundamentally shaped the city we know today. Showcasing Lincoln as the ‘Birthplace of the Tank’ will help to ensure that locals and visitors will not forget such achievements and, crucially, those who gave their lives for our freedom.
