Proposals for a stunning new city centre footbridge over the railway along with associated regeneration works are approved.
The first of two very important footbridge structures to provide attractive routes over the railway in Lincoln’s city centre was supported by the City Council’s planning committee. The fully accessible structure proposed at Brayford Wharf East received overwhelming local support after a detailed planning and design process had influenced the form and appearance of the proposed structure. Over the last 12 months Globe has helped coordinate the planning and design process including numerous consultations with the general public. Councillors welcomed the investment in the new bridge and associated investment relating to the public realm, historic structures and wildlife habitats.
This investment is part of wider investment in Lincoln by Network Rail with a structure also being proposed to provide access over the railway lines at High Street. That proposal requires the acquisition of third party property and Globe’s key role in securing support for that investment continues.
