The Brief

Planning permission was sought and approved to invest in an area of land immediately west of the village boundary, adjacent to the Petwood Hotel. The site comprised of unmanaged farmland and woodland where the neglect to the woodland had led to a risk that the trees were dying off. The investment sought to establish a ‘rural touring experience’ by providing touring caravan pitches and camping facilities within the woodlands. High quality access roads and washing facilities are incorporated as is substantial investment in tree planting, habitat management, wildlife facilities and transformation of parts of the site to accommodate rare breeds.

Outcomes

The transformation is spectacular with this site now offering the only ‘5 star’ accreditation in the county. People visit time and again to enjoy the peace and quiet that this lovely site and its surroundings offer. Carefully considered expansion has also recently been granted planning permission, acknowledging the success of this venture.
