The Brief

The renovation of an iconic Listed building and its grounds, with the aim of bringing it back into public use and acting as the new headquarters for a prominent local business.

Our Role

Globe were commissioned by a local company, R W Stokes & Sons, to handle the planning application for the renovation of The Lawn complex, a former asylum, in Lincoln. Stokes wished to move from their existing headquarters in Central Lincoln, to this site within the uphill part of the city. Part of the building would be used to house their coffee roasting and processing operation, which had become too large for their current premises, whilst another part of the main building would house office staff. Further office space would be rented out to local companies, and ground floor space would be made for restaurants and retail. As part of these works, the main building would be appropriately repaired and renovated to ensure it remained a distinctive part of historic Lincoln.

Outcomes

The planning application was approved, and the site will once again be a focal point for residents and visitors alike.
