Supporting Local Communities & Neighbourhoods in Planning

The Brief

To present three events to local communities in Lincolnshire introducing the planning system, opportunities to become involved, how to make effective representations and the potential that Neighbourhood Plans can offer.

Our Role

Globe worked closely with the Lincolnshire Association of Local Councils and the Lincolnshire branch of CPRE to organise, host and present three evening events across the county in Moulton, Caythorpe and Baumber.  Our team lead a presentation and discussion about the planning system and the opportunities for local people and Parish/Town Councils to become involved.

We also facilitated workshops at the events focusing on issues such as ‘what are legitimate material considerations/planning matters?’ and ‘preparing an action plan for responding to local planning opportunities or undertaking a Neighbourhood Plan’.

Outcomes

The events were well attended and over 100 people took part in the training.  Participants included a mix of Parish and Town Councillors and Clerks, District Councillors and members of the public. Feedback forms were completed by many participants pleased with the quality and content of the events.

At present, CPRE and NALC are reviewing the outcomes of all events across the country before deciding on next steps and the potential for further training events.
