Scrutiny of Business Support Services in the East Midlands
To assist East Midlands Regional Assembly (EMRA) in conducting their Scrutiny Review into the role and effectiveness of East Midlands Development Agency (emda) in assisting regional businesses to start, grow and compete more effectively and more profitably through the provision of high quality and accessible information, diagnostic & brokerage services and skills brokerage.
Working in partnership with the University of Lincoln, Globe provided EMRA with a detailed evidence base from on a mixture of desk based research, face to face interviews with SMEs and business organizations, and a telephone survey across the region. The research conclusions were tested at a series of workshops involving a cross section of businesses and support organisations. Reports were prepared to final draft stage before being presented through discussion with both EMRA and emda.
The scrutiny report – From Survival to Revival: Scrutiny Review into the Role and Effectiveness of East Midlands Development Agency in Managing the Delivery of Business Support in the East Midlands – presented a series of recommendations, and was published by EMRA for public review.
Globe also supported similar scrutiny reviews within the East Midlands covering Rural Development Policy, Learning & Skills and contributed to a scrutiny of International Trade.
