Scoping the Peterborough Local Economic Assessment
In order to complete a Local Economic Assessment for Peterborough the client (the city’s urban regeneration company, Opportunity Peterborough) sought assistance defining an economic geography for greater Peterborough and identifying suitable data sets to build an evidence-based assessment meeting both national guidance and local aspirations.
The brief also required the consultants to develop working relationships across a number of local and regional organisations.
Globe worked closely with the research and intelligence unit of Opportunity Peterborough (OP) and facilitated cross organisation working with OP, Peterborough City Council and the Regional Data Observatory to prepare the scope for the Assessment.
Globe also led a number of workshops and undertook face to face interviews with local businesses leaders to test ideas and assumptions emerging from the scoping process.
Globe were able to provide the client with a detailed matrix to assist their data selection, cross-referenced with core data sources identified within the National Guidance.
Workshops brought together professionals from a variety of disciplines to consider the economic geography of the area.
OP became engaged with the regional network of Councils and government agencies developing Local Economic Assessments.
Globe in partnership with Rocket Science UK were responsible for developing the National Guidance for Economic Assessments on behalf of IDeA and Planning Advisory Service.
