Lincolnshire Coastal Visitor Masterplan
Three separate briefs were issued for this project:
- A detailed community and business consultation exercise
- The preparation of a Coastal Visitor Masterplan
- The preparation of an implementation and marketing plan.
The briefs made reference to a coast divided into two areas and marked by extreme contrasts, taking in the resort centres of Skegness and Mablethorpe – focal points for commercial activity and ‘fun’, albeit in decline; as well as the many miles of natural, unspoilt coastline.
A large scale and complex project covering most of the coast between the Humber and the Wash. Each brief used a different configuration of consultants: Globe led the Consultation supported by architects Lathams; Lathams led the Masterplan supported by Globe, ARUP and GVA Grimley; while Lathams led the Implementation Plan supported by Globe.
Our role was to identify a shared vision for the future of tourism for the coast and then develop an Action Plan to maximise the tourism product potential of the coast. Latter stages identified lead partners to deliver proposed activity as well as obtaining active engagement and support for the vision and its implementation plans from businesses, sponsors, residents and potential visitors.
An adopted visitor masterplan ‘A Lincolnshire Coastal Vision’, supported by a wide range of presentations engaging large businesses such as Butlins as well as local communities and special interest groups.
