    West Lindsey District Council
  • Services:
    Planning Appeal

The Brief

The Diocese had applied for full planning permission for a four bedroom Vicarage with detached double garage and new access onto North Street. The intention was for the new Vicarage to replace the existing Vicarage, as the building needs extensive refurbishment and the large gardens are proving to be unmanageable.

The application was refused on design grounds and the Diocese wished to lodge an appeal.

Our Role

Globe appealed the refusal of planning permission for the new Vicarage and addressed the main issues raised by the appeal including the effect the development would have on the character and appearance of the area and whether the development would preserve the setting of the Church of St Peter a Grade II* listed building and designated heritage asset.

Outcomes

The appeal was allowed and planning permission was granted, subject to conditions. The Diocese are therefore able to progress the new building and market the existing Vicarage.
