Doncaster New Performance Venue Business Plan Review

  • Client:
    Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council

The Brief

To undertake a detailed review of the revenue business plan for the New Performance Venue (NPV)  in Doncaster, including an assessment of the underlying assumptions of the plan.

Our Role

The NPV has been a long term development plan for the Council and is part of the City’s Civic Quarter Regeneration scheme.

Globe worked closely with the Council’s lead officers for this project, making an initial assessment of the business plans for this emerging multi-million pound arts facility.   A series of review meetings with the client allowed us to test and challenge all of the assumptions within the plan, review staffing costs and anticipated income from sales and grants.

Globe delivered this project with our Affiliate, Simon Johnson.

Outcomes

Working with the Plan’s principal authors we were able to update and consolidate much of the business plan text to take account of incremental changes and additions made over the preceding years. The result was a shorter and more focused plan placing greater emphases on the commercial aspects of the NPV.

Through a series of iterations we were able to take account of changes in audience expenditure and grant structures since the Plan’s financial model was originally proposed.  Detailed consistency checks and assumption records were also recorded to underpin the Plan.
