170 Space Car Park on land east of HMP Lincoln, Greetwell Road
Demand for off street car parking in the Greetwell Road area has increased significantly in recent years; the B1308 Greetwell Road and neighbouring roads have extensive parking restrictions. The prison’s visitor car park was free to park, and abused by hospital visitors, with on average 60-70 vehicles parked in marked bays and on non-designated areas e.g. green space. Vehicles were also parking in the staff car park, until car parking management commenced. However, demand remained for further off street car parking in the area.
Globe were appointed to submit a planning application for temporary permission along with an Integrated Planning Statement and Transport Statement produced in-house by Venezia.
The application sought to bring forward a well located development site which would serve the prison and local area in providing off street car parking which is easily accessible. Furthermore, the development site was a neglected area of land, owned by HM Prison, in dire need of management and ongoing maintenance and the proposal provided the opportunity to bring the land back into use.
Planning permission was granted for a period of five years.
