It is not unusual to hear from people who enjoy their jobs that one of the reasons is variety. Well we certainly get that.
A current job we are involved with is leading us to make a new provision for local swans. In seeking to ensure that we receive reliable expert advice we have been directed by RSPCA wildlife officers to liaise with an Oxford Professor who is appointed the first Warden of the Swans. Not knowing that such a position exists we find that this post was created in 1993 in the Royal Household and partly replaces the ancient post of HM Keeper of the Queens Swans which dated from the thirteenth century.
Just shows how much there is to learn as we go through life!
